That makes it a perfect place to visit if you are visiting the area for a holiday and want something fun to do. The hours during the summer are from 8 am until 8 pm. However, on the 4th of July the ship closes at 6 pm in order to prepare to shoot off fireworks. The 4th of July is wonderful place to visit the battleship and the experience of watching the fireworks over the water will certainly fill you with pride to be an American. During the winter, which begins after Labor Day through the Thursday before Memorial Day, the hours are from 8 am until 5 pm. Christmas Day the ship opens at 12.

    There are special rates offered for groups of 20 or more on many of the railroad excursions. This is great for school trips, large family vacations, and more! There are several special excursions like the Polar Express in November and December that kids really love as well as the Day Out with Thomas, Peanuts Express, and more. There are other excursions to gorges, the Nantahala River and more that are more suited for adults. Prices vary depending on the excursion.
