There is an exhibit here about the contributions women made to the war effort and this is quite amazing because many times people just assume the men were involved in the war. The exhibit shows how life was on the home front and how the war affected women, too. Other exhibits that alternate include Native American, African American, and other groups who served in the Confederate Army. There is an exhibit on the average soldier’s life, Generals, as well as other exhibits on loan from other museums. There are re-enactors, too, that show visitors how the war played out.

There is an extensive collection of books on the war, genealogy, and other war related issues in the Museum’s library. These are available for the public to use for research purposes. The Sons of the Confederate Veterans, the 16th South Carolina Volunteers, Camp #36 own this museum and operate it. The museum is located in the Pettigru Historic District in Greenville, S.C. and is in memory of the hundreds of thousands of Confederate soldiers killed in the line of duty. Those who visit this museum will certainly leave with a new sense of wonder at how the War Between the States occurred and how it almost succeeded at separating the country for good.
