  • When you are in New Mexico there are a lot of great things to see and do that will catch your attention. However, despite how busy you are or how much you have to do you must check out the Lodestar Astronomy Center. This center is huge at 20,000 square feet and you will really enjoy checking out the planetarium. You can see the stars and feel like you are really in space! It’s really cool. There is also an observatory, which is nice, but perhaps the coolest part of all the is the Virtual Voyages motion simulator.

    This will make you feel as if you really are taking a voyage into space! It is amazing and worth the price of admission. There are also exhibit galleries and a store that has an astronomy theme that sells really cool souvenirs. If you are interested in visiting the Astronomy Center all you need to do is visit the Museum of Natural History and Science in Albuquerque.The museum is open every day of the year except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Mondays in January and September that are not holidays. The hours are 9 am until 5 pm. It costs $7 per person, per venue, to enter the museum exhibits, Dynatheater, and the planetarium. The prices for seniors over 60 are $6 for each venue, and kids three to 12 are $4.

    There are some discounts offered with a dollar savings on any purchase of two or more venues. If you buy entrance into all three venues you will save $2. Every Wednesday is free museum admission for seniors 60 and older. There are also gift cards available for purchase. The museum also offers free county months, so check the calendar to find out when admission is free for your county.
